How to Find Area of a Rectangle by its Perimeter and Length

QUESTION: What is the area of a rectangular room with a perimeter of 24 m and length of 8 m?

SOLUTION:
Find Area of a Rectangle, if Perimeter of the rectangle and Length of the rectangle is given.

Formula of Perimeter of a Rectangle = (2×Length) + (2×Width) ———————-(1)

Here,

length = 8 m

and

perimeter = 24 m

Put these values in equation (1) to find the width of the room

Perimeter = (2×Length) + (2×Width)

24 = (2×8) + (2×Width)

24 = 16 + (2×Width)

2 × Width = 24 – 16

2 × Width = 8

Width = \frac{8}2 = 4 m

Thus, if a rectangular room perimeter is 24 m and length is 8 m then its width is 4 m.

Now let us find area.

Formula of area of a rectangle = Length × Width —————————(2)

Put value of length = 8 m

and width = 4 m

in equation (2)

Area of a rectangular room = 8 × 4 = 32 m²
